Yin Yoga & Energy Teacher Training III - Seminarhaus Pegasus, North Germany
(in German)

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." (Lao-tzu)

You have already completed many steps along your personal and unique Yin Yoga & Anatomy journey.

In this training, we complete the Yin Yoga practice and Yoga Anatomy and focus on energy work, Chi Flow and Yoga philosophy.

Welcome to Yin Yoga & Energy Teacher Training III
This 50-hour certified intensive yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 5 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this yin yoga teacher training course, we concentrate on the upper body eg. shoulder, scapula, shoulder/neck, wrists and as in level II, on the many variations of relevant poses. Furthermore, with special exercises, we begin to discover, experience and differentiate between blood, breath, nerves and chi flow within our own bodies.

2. Blood, Nerves, Breath, Chi

Heartbeat, blood circulation, nerve impulses, breath circulation are fluctuations within the body that can distract one's ability to sense the underlying chi flow and can often be misinterpreted by many experienced yoga students and teachers for the chi flow eg. blood circulation for chi flow.

We delve into the anatomical function of the blood, nerves breath and clarify with practical exercises, how to consciously feel blood, nerves, breath to enable us to place these sensations to the periphery.

What remains is chi.

3. Energy, Mantras & Philosophy

In this module, we begin our journey into energy work, mantras & yoga philosophy and slowly become familiar with the teachings of reincarnation, karma, the 3 realms, Patanjali's sutras, tantric chakra teachings, nadis (meridian theory) & mantra work.
Here is where we discover the key to our true spiritual growth.

4. Upper Body Anatomy - Analyse, Tests & Passive Assists

In YYTT III, we learn the muscle groups of the upper body, their function and explore in detail various aspects eg. rotator cuff, scapula etc.

We analyse compression and tension of the shoulder joint and explain and show it's relevance to yang yoga asanas (Downward Facing Dog, Warrior), to demonstrate how individual bone structure not only limits and affects our Yin Yoga asana practice.

5. Meditation & Bija Mantra

In Modules III and IV we practice chakra meditations, SoHam/HamSa meditations and/or Bija Mantras for an hour every morning. We use this practice as an intensive preparation for the asana practice making our energetic-emotional body “sing”.

Students must have completed Yin Therapy's YYTT I and II courses to be eligible to participate in this YYTT III.

“The anatomy class is so incredibly funny and exciting! You can never get enough of it....

Yin Yoga III also went mentally really deep (not always funny😉, but always more exciting)... Supported by all these loving people all around, a very enriching experience.

On a journey of discovery for body and mind with Yin Yoga... Exciting, resistance, love, sadness, anger, confidence, peace, etc.... All words that come to mind. It’s worth it!!! Because at the end, calm returns at some point, an incredible peace within the heart that you endeavour to pass on...

Om shanti shanti shanti”
— Susi L – yoga teacher, Switzerland (YYTT III 50 hours)
“The Yin Yoga Teacher Training with Markus meets the highest quality standards! You not only learn about anatomy, yin, philosophy, energy, asanas, etc., but you also get to know yourself more and how to deal with yourself better, both on a physical level and on a mental and spiritual level. With all of this knowledge, I teach with much more confidence and can give students so much more in class than before. The training is put together with so much know-how, passion and love that it was absolutely the best training I have ever had. Thank you so much!”

— Deborah D. – yoga teacher, Germany (YYTT III 50 hours)
“The connection in Level 3 from the anatomical to the energetic, including the Yin self-practice as well as extensive meditations and energy exploration exercises, and also numerous anatomical tests, was a remarkable enrichment for me personally as well as a yoga teacher, which I evolved noticeably in the days following the teacher training: a deeper connection to myself as well as a new quality and sense of security in teaching - a wonderful experience! Thank you very much! I’m already looking forward to Level IV and V!”
— Sonja S. - yoga teacher, Germany (YYTT III 50 hours)

After each successfully completed module, the participant receives a Yoga Alliance certification until the final 200h or 300h Yoga Alliance certificate is issued after the last module. (in German)

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." (Confucius)

When one arrives, we feel, as yin yoga practitioners and teachers that it is no longer work,
but rather a gift.

Through the previous training levels, we have enough knowledge under our anatomy belts to understand and sense the more refined energy work of the meridians and to explore the implications for our own practice and that of our students.

The desire is for the energy – internally and externally – to be tangible for each and every student, so that our teaching becomes authentic and not only theoretical.

Furthermore, besides delving into yoga philosophy and the theory of energy work you can expect to be taken on a very personal, energetic and emotional journey this week with much yin yoga, meditation and pranayama practice.

The intention of this course – the middle way (Buddha's teaching) – the journey inwards  – the journey to our essence.

Welcome to Yin Yoga & Philosophy Teacher Training IV
This 50-hour certified intensive yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 6 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this continuance of our yin yoga teacher training programme, we focus mainly on the chakras and meridian work.  For asana practice, this means learning to be aware of the subtle chi (energy) flow in the meridians, and to feel its effects on the balance of both body and mind.

2. Yoga Philosophy

In the yoga philosophy section, we study the ultimate goal of practising yoga. To do this, To do this, we use the Samkhya philosophy to explain the Indian model of reincarnation, karma and the great yoga universe and describe the path of a yogi.

We will study Patanjali and his first 4 yoga sutras to assist our exploration and will delve intensively into the 8 limbs of yoga. Here we will show how essential the practice of meditation is.

3. Chakras and Meridian Theory

In this section, we examine chakra theory as the energy centre of our body and discover the sense and power of practising chakra meditation on the spiritual path to enlightenment.

We will also look into meridian theory.

In the physical body, we know about the role of bioelectrical flow (nerves) and chemical flow (hormones) as a natural source of power and energy for the body.  In chakra and meridian theory, chi represents the highest authority at a physical level, coordinating both the bioelectrical and the chemical flow in the body and supplying it with energy.

If chi is flowing, we are healthy.  If chi is not flowing, we become ill.

Through yin yoga, pranayama and meditation, we move chi and achieve balance in the body and mind.

4. Theory – Meditation, Pranayama and Anatomy

Teaching the theory of meditation (dharana – concentration / dhyana – seeing what is), pranayama (breath control), pratahara (looking inwards and directing energy to the spinal column) and the corresponding anatomy is both fascinating and exhilarating.

5. Practice – Meditation, Pranayama and Anatomy

Fully conversant with the theory of meditation, we are now ready to move on to meditation practice.

Each day, we will examine and practice a topic in more detail:

  • Chakra meditation over two days

  • Pranayama exercises

  • Pratyahara exercises

  • Shushumna purification

This practice offers an insight into and provides a taster of the Yin Therapy Meditation Training (35h or 100h). The Yin Therapy Meditation Teacher Training (35h) and Yin Therapy Meditation Retreat/TT (100 hours) can lead to a profound personal experience and transformation.

Yin IV leaves me with a lasting, deeply satisfying experience. Markus creates and holds a space in a unique way in which knowledge and one’s own experience can flow together wonderfully. This week has brought me another step closer.
— Sonika S. – yoga teacher, Hamburg (YYTT IV 50hrs)
Great and profound! Vivid, clear, practical and with a lot of humour and wit, Markus conveys complex philosophical topics in Level IV and in connection with the Yin Therapy and Chakra Meditations he lets you dive even deeper into yoga and yourself. Thank you!
— Vivienne S. – yoga teacher, Vienna (YYTT IV 50hrs)

On successfully passing the theoretical and practical exams, you will be awarded a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certification, which you can use to register as a yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance America. “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” (Confucius)

This 6 day / 50 hour certified module is intended to deepen our understanding of Yin Yoga through the experiential, practical and theoretical application. We study in depth the 20+ basic yin yoga poses and discover a sense of security and deepen our ability to effectively practice and teach, through developing an anatomical awareness and understanding of skeletal variation.

We learn to employ the 7 point analysis principle to understand each yoga pose as well as the individual and unique bodies of not only ourselves but also our students. In turn this enables us to offer logical assists and variations.  Anatomy is the key.

Welcome to Yin Yoga Teacher Training I
This 50-hour intensive yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 4 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

This section covers the theory and practice for safely practicing and teaching 20 yin yoga poses, including their specific characteristics and their effects.

2. Anatomy is the Key

Anatomical understanding of not only the individual bone structure but also the muscular, connective, fascial and ligament tissues is an essential prerequisite for an effective yoga teacher.

3. 7-Point Analysing Principle for Assists - Theory

This course focuses less on teaching set assists and much more on introducing a 7-Point Analysing Principle, which you can then use for every known yoga pose and for each individual student.

4. 7-Point Analysing Principle - Practical Tests

In this Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training, we study and apply a series of practical tests for analysing the bone structure, compression and tension of our students.  We will have the opportunity to learn – in a safe environment – to read a human being, to sense our own limitations and to test and recognise those of others.  Eventually, with the benefit of myriad insights and enhanced self-awareness, we will be able to assess the needs and limitations of any individual student.

The foundation has been laid.

This training is suitable for already certified and aspiring yoga teachers as well as dedicated yoga students, who wish for a deeper understanding of Yin Yoga and Yoga Anatomy for their teaching and/or own practice.

Yin Therapy Workshop (German) - Frankfurt, GERMANY

Yin Therapy Workshop at Inside Yoga, Frankfurt
(in German)

This practical workshop is suitable for yoga practitioners and yoga teachers alike.

In a fast-paced, performance-oriented, crisis-ridden life, we often feel alone, overwhelmed and stressed. Our response to this is often to demand more of ourselves - a desire to go higher, faster and further. The result is often deep physical and mental exhaustion.

"No mud, no lotus." - Thich Nhat Hanh

Yin Therapy deliberately takes the opposite path to create awareness of the imbalance in the body and mind through meditation, contemplation, restorative yoga and yin yoga. We begin to feel again what we need in life and learn to distinguish the essential from the inessential.

"The way to do is to be." - Lao Tzu

In the first half of our 4-hour Yin Therapy practical session (no theory), we will harmoniously connect the mind and body in movement. In this present, moment-focused state of being, there is no room for everyday thoughts. The stress falls away from us. This is meditation in motion.

In the second half you will be guided deeper and deeper into stillness until only the stillness of being (without movement) remains.

Yin Therapy Practice

  • Walking meditation

  • Breathing exercise

  • Self-regulation exercise

  • Slow to dynamic, easy-to-learn movements

  • Yin yoga

  • Restorative yoga

  • Zen meditation - sitting in silence

"The condition for happiness is always with us, in us, around us!"

Yin Therapy - Restorative Yoga Teacher Training (German) - Frankfurt, GERMANY

Yin Therapy - Restorative Yoga Teacher Training - Inside Yoga Frankfurt
(in German)

"How beautiful it is to do nothing, and then rest afterward." - Spanish proverb
”Hacer nada; que bueno es, despues descansar, aun mejor.”

In our fast-paced, performance-oriented, crisis-ridden lives, we often feel alone, overwhelmed and stressed.

Our response to this is often to demand more of ourselves, to want to go higher, faster and further. The result is often deep physical and mental exhaustion.

Yin Therapy consciously takes the opposite approach to create awareness of the imbalance in the body and mind through meditation, contemplation, restorative yoga and yin yoga. We begin to feel again what we need in life and learn to distinguish between the essential and the inessential.

REST – RESTORE – REGENERATE

Restorative yoga is the art of resting. Pause, let go and surrender to quiet contemplation. The passive lying postures put you in a state of mental introspection and physical relaxation. Cells regenerate and an inner balance is restored. You slowly move from a state of doing to a state of being. Restorative yoga, in its passivity, is the perfect balance to our often stressful, activity-driven world.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." (Lao-tzu)

Welcome to Yin Therapy - Restorative Yoga Teacher Training
This 50-hour intensive program (6 days) comprises 5 segments:

1. Restorative Asanas

“In stillness, the muddied water returns to clarity.” – Lao Tzu

Learn how to set up a restorative class and how to set up the fundamental restorative asanas in the supine, side and prone positions for each person individually.

2. The Practice

“No one can see their reflection in running water. It is only in still water that we can see.” - Taoist proverb

During the training, experience the benefits of a restorative practice on your own body and mind through various guided restorative classes. Long postures of up to 30 minutes put you in a state of calm introspection and regeneration. It will be a retreat and a journey to yourself.

3. The Autonomic Nervous System

"An anxious mind cannot exist in a relaxed body."
- Dr. Edmund Jacobson

Restorative yoga is the "Art of Resting." Discover how the autonomic nervous system is down-regulated and relaxed in a quiet practice (relaxation response) and thus offers the balance for a fast, performance-oriented world.

4. Just One blanket

Not every studio is equipped with many tools. Hence, why we show different options for how to achieve down-regulation of the nervous system with just one blanket.

5. The Theory

  • What is Restorative Yoga?

  • What is the difference to Yin Yoga?

  • Creating gentle transitions and neutral sensations

  • How long does a restorative posture last?

  • Create and maintain space

  • A safe learning and teaching environment

  • Sustainability

  • Find your voice as a teacher

  • The tools

  • The restorative breath

  • Forms of touch

  • To yield, to surrender, to let go

“Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.” - Mahatma Gandhi

Contemplation & Yin Yoga Retreat/Further Education - Yogainsel, Spiekeroog
(in German)

Silence and contemplation leads to understanding. Understanding leads to compassion. Compassion leads to love, kindness and equanimity in our hearts." - Markus Henning Giess

In a fast-paced, performance-oriented, crisis-ridden life, we often feel alone, overwhelmed and stressed.

Our response to this is often to demand more of ourselves - a desire to go higher, faster and further. The result is often deep physical and mental exhaustion.

Yin Therapy deliberately takes the opposite approach to create awareness of the imbalance in the body and mind through meditation, contemplation, restorative yoga and yin yoga. We begin to feel again what we need in life and learn to distinguish the essential from the inessential.

In this retreat (this advanced training) you will learn to build awareness of yourself and experience compassion for yourself through Buddhist contemplation.

Studies show that compassion towards yourself lowers the pulse rate, blood pressure and stress hormones in our body. Compassion reduces psychological distress, increases well-being and lays the foundation for mental and spiritual healing.

This Buddhist contemplation technique, which we will teach in a modern psychological context, is easy to learn and very easy to implement in everyday life.

ATTENTION - RETREAT
A retreat in the classical sense means a retreat from one's familiar surroundings in order to devote oneself to one's spiritual practice. In doing so, we are withdrawing from all digital media for this time and will also avoid printed media. In addition, there will be 7 days of silence during the Yin Therapy Retreat, during which we will retreat even further and look deeper inwards.

This withdrawal, from the distraction of the outside and the concentrated attention to one's own person, is intense and not always easy. Here, topics of everyday life can come to the fore, deep traumas, but also old samskaras from past lives. Often you see yourself in the mirror for the first time in years without make-up. Therefore, you should be sure that you will go into this course mentally and physically stable.

This course is practice-oriented and is intended to enable the yoga teacher to contemplate long periods of contemplation. This retreat should not be confused with a wellness holiday!

This retreat is a deepening of one's own yoga practice, something that a teacher training usually cannot offer and the natural next step of a yoga teacher.

From this deep personal experience through retreats grows a power and the ability to impart meditation.

This retreat / further training is recognized as continuing education by the Yoga Alliance. Following the retreat / further training, you will receive a confirmation of participation for 18 hours of contemplation & Yin Yoga retreat by email.

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training II - Unit Yoga, Hamburg
(in German)

"Tell me, and I will forget. Show me, and I may remember. Involve me, and I will understand." (Confucius)

Confucius’ saying reflects the emphasis of this particular Yin Yoga Teacher Training where the focus is on sensing, feeling, experiencing the yin yoga practice and the unique anatomy of our individual bone structure for ourselves.  You will be analysing yourselves and each other, conducting passive assists as well as experiencing compression and tension amongst your fellow students.  Through this very much hands on, practical approach your knowledge and understanding will be increased tenfold.

Welcome to Yin Yoga Teacher Training II
This 50-hour intensive certified yoga teaching course (6 days) comprises 6 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this continuance of our yin yoga teacher training programme, we concentrate mainly on the 9 awareness points of functional yoga.

In this Yin Yoga teacher training, we focus on various points of attention in the functional yoga asana practice. While Module I focused on the technical and mechanical understanding of the asanas, Module II focuses on feeling and experiencing the physical, energetic and emotional body during a practice.

2. Anatomy is the Key

As well as analysing compression, we’ll study the tension of the muscular and fascial tissues and the effect of these on the asana practice.  This will allow us to offer our students logical assists.

3. Biomechanics in Yin Yoga

Why do we practice Yang and Yin Yoga Asanas from a physical perspective? We explain what an optimal workout should look like according to the latest findings.

4. Emotions during Hip Openers

Why can things suddenly become emotional during a hip opener class, during backbends or during long-held asanas? In this segment we look at how stress and trauma are processed in the body and how a yoga asana can bring them to the surface and be released.

5. Passive Assists

In section 5 we learn passive, hand-on assists.

6. Yin Therapy - Personal Training

In YYTT II, we establish a basic understanding of how – using Yin Therapy's approach – we can employ the therapeutic elements of Yin Yoga to support our students’ individual and specific physical and emotional issues.

According to statistics, 25% of the yoga students who come to us took up yoga originally precisely because
they have these specific problems.

Students must have completed Yin Therapy's Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training I course to be eligible to participate in Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training II.

THANK YOU for doing this and for investing so much of yourself and investing so much to pass this on!”
— Vera M. - sports scientist & yoga teacher, Vienna

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training I (German) - Hamburg, GERMANY

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training I - Unit Yoga, Hamburg
(in German)

This section covers the theory and practice for teaching 20 yin yoga poses, including their specific characteristics and their effects.

For more detailed information about the YYTT Module 1 course syllabus please click here

“I highly recommend this teacher training to anyone who wants to delve deeper into the world of Yin Yoga and experience a world-class teacher and teaching. This training was without doubt one of the best teacher trainings I have ever experienced in my life and I can’t wait to take the second module, for which I will travel all the way from Canada. Markus is a wealth of information on all things (Yin) Yoga, has fascinating stories to tell, is incredibly humorous and extremely compassionate and caring. I can honestly say that I learned a lot more than I would have expected from 50 hours. Thank you very much.”
— Dr. Thea B., Vancouver (YYTT I 50 hours)
“1st rate teacher training. I would love to be able continue straight away with Yin Yoga TT Module 2 . I’m looking forward to to the next module.”

— Jutta W. - Yoga teacher, Ravensburg (YYTT I 50 hours)

Yin Therapy - Restorative Yoga at Inside Yoga, Frankfurt

Rest – Restore – Regenerate

Restorative yoga is the art of resting. Pause, let go and surrender to silent lingering. The passive lying postures put you in a state of mental introspection and physical relaxation. Cells regenerate and an inner balance is restored. You are slowly moving from a state of doing to a state of being. Restorative yoga, in its passivity, is the perfect balance to our often stressful, active-driven world.

(in German)

This section covers the theory and practice for teaching 20 yin yoga poses, including their specific characteristics and their effects.

Yin Therapy Silent Meditation Retreat VI - Seminarhaus Pegasus, North Germany
(in German)

Welcome to Yin Therapy's Silent Meditation Retreat VI

This 9 day / 60-hour silent meditation retreat comprises 3 sections:

1. Meditation Practice

Over the course of this silent retreat, we will be practicing various Buddhist meditations for 6 hours daily:

  • Shamatha
    - quiet, peaceful

  • Vipassana
    - insight into the three characteristics of existence

  • Metta
    - loving kindness

  • Walking meditation

  • Zen sitting meditation

  • Zen eating meditation

  • Heart meditation

  • Contemplation

  • Mindfulness practice

2. Silence

Silence refers to a perceived silence, the absence of any noise and also immobility. Our body, mind and soul always need a break from the noise of everyday life, the demands, the conversations, the media and the stress. Silence means relaxation for the body and mind. Silence reduces stress hormones and allows us to regenerate. Silence allows for self-reflection. Silence means, instead of the constant noise, listening to the essential. We will walk, stand, sit and lie in silence. We will reflect in silence. We will meditate in silence. We will quietly welcome and let the pleasant as well as the unpleasant, as part of our lives, pass by. We will dive deeper and deeper into ourselves in silence.

3. Yin Yoga Asana Practice

At the end of each day we will conclude with a gentle Yin Yoga asana class.

You and all of us are aware that this was a very special time. I have experienced some retreats and trainings. But not yet something so intensive, knowledgeable, versatile and loving learning and practicing together.
— Michael L. – Yoga Teacher Hamburg (YYTT V Meditation Retreat/TT 100hrs)
Thank you for ten wonderfully rich days in which you led us into silence. Bursting with knowledge in practice and theory. Professionally, undogmatically, authentically, empathetically and passionately conceived and presented. You can feel your love for your work in every way. Your heart project has touched my heart deeply.
— Alexandra S. – Yogalehrerin Essen (YYTT V Meditation Retreat/TT 100hrs)
“Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to cope with it.”
— Mahatma Gandhi

Students must have completed our YYTT I courses to be eligible to participate in this Silent Meditation Retreat course.

On successful completion and 100% attendance of this training, students will be awarded a Yoga Alliance 60 hour certificate which can be counted towards Continuing Education hours with Yoga Alliance for registered teachers.

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training IV - Seminarhaus Sampurna, Taunus

This 50 hour intensive programme IV is created for all yoga teachers who wish to delve deeper into Yin Yoga - the quiet practice and increase their knowledge on the anatomic and energetic theories of the practice.

Welcome to Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training IV
This 50-hour certified intensive yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 6 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this continuance of our yin yoga teacher training programme, we concentrate mainly on the chakras and meridians of our bodies.  For asana practice, this means learning to be aware of the subtle chi (energy) flow in the meridians, and to feel its effects on the balance of both body and mind.

2. Yoga Philosophy

In the yoga philosophy section, we study the ultimate goal of practising yoga. To do this, we look to Patanjali and his first four yoga sutras, and embark on the eightfold path.

The main questions that we will address are:

  • What is yoga?

  • What is the path of yoga?

3. Chakras and Meridian Theory

In this section, we examine chakra theory as the energy centre of our body and discover the sense and power of practising chakra meditation on the spiritual path to enlightenment.

We’ll also cover meridian theory.

Teaching the theory of meditation (dharana – concentration / dhyana – seeing what is), pranayama (breath control), pratahara (looking inwards and conducting energy to the spinal column) and the anatomy associated with it is as fascinating as it is exhilarating.

In addition, we compare it with classical Buddhist meditation practice and universal meditation, philosophy and theory.

5. Practice – Meditation, Pranayama and Anatomy

Fully conversant with the theory of meditation, we are now ready to move on to meditation practice.

Each day, we will focus intensively on a theme as we practise:

  • Universal meditation

  • Chakra meditation over two days

  • Pranayama exercises

  • Pratyahara exercises

  • Shushumna purification

This practice offers an insight into and provides a taster of the Yin Therapy Meditation Training.
The Yin Therapy Meditation Programme (100 hours) can lead to an extremely profound personal experience and transformation.

6. Yin Therapy

In this section we turn our attention to creating a more extensive picture of energy and holistic healing in the body.
During this module, we will explore various theories and find the connection between them.

At the heart of this third Yin Therapy module lie:

  • Exoteric & esoteric

  • The Little Yoga Way - life in balance

Students must have successfully completed our YYTTI - III courses before participating in this YYTTIV course.

This level IV training is a certified stand-alone teacher training and is also the last of four modules that together make up Yin Therapy’s 200hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training.

On successful completion of levels I - IV, students will be awarded a Yoga Alliance 200 hour Yin Therapy Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training certificate or a 50 hour certificate towards Continuing Education with Yoga Alliance.

NOTE: The final module of our 200hr Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training course is a residential programme and will take place in the beautiful Seminarhaus Sampurna in Taunus (near Wiesbaden).

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training II (German) - Hamburg, GERMANY

2. Anatomy is the Key

As well as analysing compression, we’ll study the tension of the muscular and fascial tissues and the effect of these on the asana practice.  This will allow us to offer our students logical assists.

3. 7-Point Analysing Principle for Assists - Theory

In this section of the training schedule, we’ll improve our knowledge of the 7-point analysis principle.

4. Application of the 7-Point Analysing Principle – Tests and Analysis of Assists/Adjustments

In this element of the training programme, we’ll focus on applying the 7-point analysis principle for assists and – working with the student – study ways of analysing yoga poses on the basis of compression and tension, orientation of the joints, and proportions.

To do this, we’ll learn tests from the Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training I programme then apply them to our fellow students.

One special feature of this series of tests will be analysing a shoulder stand in detail. This is a sneak preview for the Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training level III programme, where we’ll focus on the upper body and extremities.

5. Passive Assists

In section 5 we learn passive, hand-on assists.

6. Yin Therapy - The Therapeutic Benefits of Yin Yoga

In YYTT II, we establish a basic understanding of how – using Yin Therapy's approach – we can employ the therapeutic elements of Yin Yoga to support our students’ individual and specific physical and emotional issues.

According to statistics, 25% of the yoga students who come to us took up yoga originally precisely because they have these specific problems.

Students must have completed Yin Therapy's Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training I course to be able to participate in Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training II.

This level II training is a certified stand-alone teacher training and is also the second of four modules that together make up Yin Therapy’s 200hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training.

On successful completion of all assignments and 100% attendance you will be awarded a 50 hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training certificate which may be counted towards our Yoga Alliance internationally recognised 200hr Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training certificate or recognised as continuing education hours for Yoga Alliance registered yoga teachers.

Yoga Anatomy: The Anatomy of Back Pain - Yogaloft München, Munich (in German)

This masterclass is suitable for yoga practitioners and yoga teachers alike.

Lower back pain is the most prevalent of musculoskeletal conditions and its impact is pervasive. It affects hundreds of millions of people around the world. 80% of adults experience back pain at least once a year. In this workshop, we will examine lower back pain from a physiological and psychological perspective. Learn about fascia, the “yin” tissue, the integral role it plays in the lower back, the importance of Yoga for maintaining a mobile and pain free body and why Yin Yoga is considered to be a highly effective, therapeutic method to help relieve and cure back pain.

In this 6 day certified Level I (50 hour) training of our 200 hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training programme, we not only learn the 20 basic yin yoga poses in theory and in practice, we also discover a sense of security when teaching, through developing an anatomical understanding of skeletal variation.

This section covers the theory and practice for teaching 20 yin yoga poses, including their specific characteristics and their effects.

2. Anatomy is the Key

Anatomical understanding of not only the individual bone structure but also the muscular, connective, fascial and ligament tissues is an essential prerequisite for an effective yoga teacher.

3. 7-point Analysing Principle for Assists - Theory

The Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training programme focuses less on teaching set assists and much more on introducing a 7-point analysis principle, which you can then use for every known yoga pose and for each individual student.

4. 7-point Analysing Principle - Practical Tests

In the Yin Yoga and Anatomy Teacher Training programme, we’ll study and apply a series of practical tests for analysing the bone structure, compression and tension of our students.  We will have the opportunity to learn – in a safe environment – to read a human being, to sense our own limitations and to test and recognise those of
others.  Eventually, with the benefit of myriad insights and
enhanced self-awareness, we will be able to assess the needs
and limitations of any individual student.

The foundation has been laid.

This training is suitable for already certified and aspiring yoga teachers as well as dedicated yoga students, who wish for a deeper understanding of Yin Yoga and Yoga Anatomy for their teaching and/or own practice.

This level I training is a certified stand-alone teacher training and is also the first of four modules that together make up Yin Therapy’s 200hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training.

On successful completion of all assignments and 100% attendance of this training, students will be awarded a Yoga Alliance 50 hour certificate which can be counted towards our 200 hour Yin Therapy Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training programme or Continuing Education with Yoga Alliance.

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training II - Inside Yoga Frankfurt

This 50-hour intensive certified yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 6 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this continuance of our yin yoga teacher training programme, we concentrate mainly on the 9 awareness points of functional yoga.

In YYTT II, we establish a basic understanding of how – using Yin Therapy's approach – we can employ the therapeutic elements of Yin Yoga to support our students’
individual and specific physical and emotional issues.

According to statistics, 25% of the yoga students who come
to us took up yoga originally precisely because they have these
specific problems.

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Workshop (German) - Frankfurt, GERMANY

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Workshop at Inside Yoga, Frankfurt
(in German)

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” (Confucius)

Yin yoga is one of the calmest and most relaxing forms of yoga in the world, consisting of a series of passive poses of the body.

By means of long-held stretches (3–5 minutes) without muscle tension, we focus on the deep connective, fascial and ligamental tissues – stimulating, strengthening and stretching the tissues.

We mobilise the joints, and stimulate and calm the nervous system, thereby reducing stress and encouraging regeneration.

During the practice we temporarily slow down the flow of Chi energy, enabling the revitalising energy to accumulate and then flow more freely on conclusion of the practice.

Indeed for days after a yin yoga practice, we’ll feel blissfully relaxed and recharged.

Depending on the length of the workshop, either all or only certain themes of Yin Yoga and Anatomy theory – as listed below – will be discussed.
Depending on the length of the workshop, either all or only a selection of Yin Yoga and Anatomy listed below will be practiced.

All workshops are suitable for yoga teachers and also yoga students wishing to learn more about yin yoga and yoga anatomy.

Yin Yoga

Theory
What is yin yoga?
What is yang yoga?
What are the advantages of each kind of yoga?
How do they complement each other?
What is tension and what is compression?
What is the function of our connective tissue/fascia in this practice?
Stress and back pain, and yin yoga as a “therapeutic touch”

Practice
Yin yoga class /classes (Paul Grilley style)
Focus: back class

Yoga Anatomy

Theory:
Skeletal variation
Function/aesthetics
Compression and tension
Analysis of a yoga pose

Practice
Skeletal variation tests and practical consequences for yang yoga asanas and assists – such as lotus, shoulder stand, pigeon, down dog, warrior, etc.

We’ll analyse the following asanas in detail:
Lotus position        - external rotation of the hip joint
Reclining hero       -  internal rotation of the hip joint

We'll discuss the following issues:
What restrictions does my individual bone structure impose on me?
How different is it from other people’s bone structure?
Will I or my students ever manage to get into the lotus position or achieve a “perfect” pigeon, etc?
Where are the areas of compression and tension within my individual bone structure? How do I deal with it?
How can I stretch and stimulate the tissues, when compression is constricting me?
What is the physical function of a yoga pose?

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training IV - Seminarhaus Sampurna, Taunus

  • Dr Motoyama’s perspective on chakras, meridians and healing

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training III - Inside Yoga Frankfurt
(in German)

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." (Lao-tzu)

You have already completed many steps along your personal and unique Yin Yoga & Anatomy journey.

In this teacher training we complete the yin yoga practice and yoga anatomy theory, in that we focus on the individual bone structure, muscles and facial chains of the upper body and discover the implications to our yin and yang yoga practice with the aid of many tests, analysis, variations and therapeutic suggestions e.g. shoulder neck pain.

Welcome to Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training III

5. Yin Therapy

In YYTT II, we established a fundamental understanding of how Yin Yoga can enhance and restore balance for ourselves and our students from a physical and mental aspect.

In YYTT III, we delve deeper.

Students must have completed Yin Therapy's YYTT I and II courses to be eligible to participate in this YYTT III.

On successful completion of all assignments and 100% attendance of this training, students will be awarded a Yoga Alliance 50 hour certificate which can be counted towards our 200 hour Yin Therapy Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training programme or Continuing Education hours with Yoga Alliance registered teachers.

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training I (German) - Hamburg, GERMANY

Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training I - Unit Yoga, Hamburg
(in German)

“Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” (Confucius)

In this 6 day certified Level I (50 hour) training of our 200 hour Yin Yoga & Anatomy Teacher Training programme, we not only learn the 20 basic yin yoga poses in theory and in practice, we also discover a sense of security when teaching, through developing an anatomical understanding of skeletal variation.

This 50-hour intensive certified yoga teaching programme (6 days) comprises 6 sections:

1. Yin Yoga Asanas

In this continuance of our yin yoga teacher training programme, we concentrate mainly on the 9 awareness points of functional yoga.
